Supporting Art Education: How We Review Nominated Schools for Partnership
At First Pass, we believe that every student deserves access to high-quality art education, regardless of their school’s resources. That’s why we prioritize partnering with schools where our support can make the greatest impact. If you’re considering nominating a school for funding and resources for its art department, here’s an overview of our review process.
Our Commitment to Art Education
As an organization in good standing to operate in Washington, D.C., we are dedicated to uplifting schools that need additional support to foster creativity and artistic expression. To ensure our efforts reach those with the greatest need, our priority is Title I schools—institutions that serve a high percentage of students from low-income families and may face financial challenges in maintaining robust arts programs.
How the Review Process Works
When a school is nominated for partnership, our team evaluates several key factors to determine feasibility and impact:
- Title I Status: We prioritize schools that qualify as Title I, ensuring resources are directed where they are most needed.
- Ease of Communication: A successful partnership depends on collaboration. Schools that are responsive and proactive in communication increase the likelihood of a productive relationship.
- Existing Connections: If the nominator has an established relationship with the school and can facilitate an introduction, this greatly enhances our ability to provide timely support and ensure that resources are implemented effectively.
- Location Considerations: While we primarily focus on schools within D.C., we also consider nominations for schools outside the district. However, coordinating with these schools may require additional time or support to ensure a smooth partnership.
How You Can Help
If you’re interested in nominating a school, consider reaching out to your connections within that institution. A simple introduction can help streamline the process and ensure that resources make their way into the classrooms where they’re needed most.
Together, we can empower students through art and creativity. If you know of a school that could benefit from our support, we encourage you to submit a nomination today
